The Stockton Canning Company in Stockton Springs, a branch of the large packed "Outing Brand" sardines whose logo showed a couple enjoying a leisurely canoe paddle. He is paddling, the lady is trailing her hand in the water. The idea was presumably that sardines were good for a romantic picnic, something with which today's tastes might not agree.

This sardine can is on display at Penobscot Marine Museum, but is on loan from Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.
